There was a recent article that discussed child abuse by maids.
The so called victims were forced to steal money from their parents to give to the maid, they have come home from school on time even if the parents allowed them to come late and they have to help with the housework. If they do not do any of the above they will get scolded by the maid.

It is a rather strange thing that readers of The Straits Times actually side with the maid and blame the parents for allowing these things to happen. I, too believe that it is not only the maid's fault but the entire family.

This is because if the parents were at home more often or the children were more brave to tell their parents none of this would have ever happened. Well, I, for one believe that prevention of child abuse is everyone's responsibility.
